GM Moves Up U.S. Availability of Chevy Bolt EV

General Motors Co. expects to launch nationwide sales of its Chevrolet Bolt electric sedan in August, a month ahead of schedule, Automotive News reports.

Chevrolet confirmed the new date today at a media event in Nashville, Tenn. The $37,500 car debuted in December in California and Oregon. Availability has since spread to about a dozen other states where demand for EVs is relatively high. The car also went on sale in South Korea in April.

The Bolt, which was named this year’s North American Car of the Year, can travel 238 miles per charge. The five-seater will compete directly with Tesla Inc.’s $35,000 Model 3 electric sedan, which is expected to go on sale in the U.S. later this year.
