Hyundai, Xevo Show Prototype In-Car Purchasing Platform

Hyundai Motor Co. and Bellevue, Wash.-based software developer Xevo Inc. showed a prototype of their in-car payment platform on Wednesday in Detroit.

Dubbed the Hyundai Digital Wallet, the system would enable users in the U.S. to pay from inside their cars for fuel at Chevron and Texaco stations, parking with ParkWhiz and take-out food orders from Applebee’s.

Hyundai tells Automotive News that it expects to conduct a pilot test to determine whether the platform will go into production as a mobile app or in-car infotainment feature.
