Mercedes Adds Parking Finder App

Daimler AG’s Mercedes-Benz unit is adding London-based Parkopedia’s parking application to its navigation system as part of the new MBUX user interface platform.

Mercedes is launching the MBUX and Parkopedia system in the A-Class small car in Europe and North America. In addition to in-vehicle use, Mercedes owners can access the parking app via a smartphone and other digital devices.

Parkopedia’s service helps drivers find, compare, reserve and pay for available parking spots from participating providers. Users also can access information about a facility’s hours of operation, contact details, security systems, electric charging ports and overhead clearance and other parking restrictions.

Founded in 2007, Parkopedia tracks 60 million parking spaces in over 8,000 cities worldwide. Customers include Audi, Apple, BMW, Ford, Garmin, General Motors, Jaguar Land Rover, Peugeot, TomTom, Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo.
