Mercedes Picks Two Cities for U.S. Subscription Test

In June, Daimler AG’s Mercedes-Benz unit will begin testing a vehicle subscription service in the U.S. through dealerships in Nashville, Tenn., and Philadelphia, Pa.

Called Mercedes-Benz Collection, the plan gives customers unlimited access to multiple models ranging from sports cars and sedans to wagons and SUVs. Users pay a fixed monthly fee that covers use of the vehicles, insurance, maintenance and roadside assistance. Program details will be announced later.

Mercedes joins a growing array of luxury brands that are assessing consumer interest in being able to switch vehicles depending on need rather than owning a single car for all purposes. BMW, Cadillac, Lincoln, Porsche and Volvo also are testing the concept in the U.S.
