Volvo Launches Online Buying Service in U.K.

Volvo Car Corp. has begun testing an upscale, online car buying service in the U.K.

The site enables individual buyer to select from a range of financing options and complete a credit deal using an e-signature. A buyer also can use the site to get a quote on their trade-in car and see how specify options affect their monthly payment.

Volvo tells Automotive News Europe that the site is intended to cater to buyers who prefer the convenience and simplicity of online buying. Volvo U.K. chief Jon Wakefield says the objective is to offer a simpler, “premium” online experience that includes close interaction with a nearby delivering dealer.

Shoppers looking only for the lowest price are likely to use existing aggregator sites that enable online comparison shopping, Wakefield notes.
