ZF Venture Signs Deal to Supply Automated Electric Shuttles

A 4-month-old venture between ZF Friedrichshafen AG and electric car startup e.GO Mobile AG says it will begin commercial deliveries of automated shuttles in France and Germany by 2020.

The first customer for the e.GO Moove GmbH venture’s 15-passenger e.Go Mover is Transdev Group, a Paris-based mobility provider. The shuttles will be produced in Aachen, Germany by e.Go at a target rate of 10,000 per year. ZF will provide the drive, steering and brake systems and its ProAI control processor.

Vehicles initially will be equipped with a steering wheel, foot pedals and backup driver. But the venture aims to produce totally automated shuttles. Transdev will equip the vehicles with its own network management system.

ZF separately announced last September that it is developing an automated, electric “last-mile” parcel delivery van equipped with Level 4 autonomous driving capabilities.
